Under Graduate Calculus I & II
“Science is the Differential Calculus of the mind. Art the Integral Calculus; they may be beautiful when apart, but are greatest only when combined.”
~ Ronald Ross (1857-1932)
Calculus: The science of infinitesimals
Calculus is a branch of mathematics that involves the study of rates of change. Before calculus was invented, all math was static: It could only help calculate stationary objects. But the universe is in constant motion and changing its form. No objects—from the heavenly bodies in space to subatomic particles or cells in the body—are always at rest. Indeed, just about everything in the universe is constantly moving. Calculus helped to determine how particles, stars, and matter move and change in real-time.
